Georgia Academy of Family Physicians (GAFP) hosted the annual Medical Student Meeting during the March 11, 2023, Committee Conclave. Twenty-eight medical students participated in an all-day immersive event with leaders in family medicine.
The event featured family medicine based ‘Ted-Talks,’ speed dating, hands-on workshops, and a residency fair. Students were able to go beyond the classroom with hands-on workshops and learn about Nexplanon insertions, point-of-care ultrasounds, acupuncture, osteopathic manipulative therapy, knee & shoulder injections, toenail removal, IUD insertion, and before you suture.
The GAFP Family Medicine Residency Fair and our Networking Reception were open to all Georgia medical students.
A special thanks to the residency programs at Emory Family Medicine, Floyd Family Medicine, Gwinnett Northside Family Medicine, Houston Healthcare Family Medicine, Hamilton Healthcare Family Medicine, Medical College of Georgia, Mercer School of Family Medicine, Morehouse School of Medicine, Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Phoebe Putney Family Medicine, and WellStar Douglas for their help and dedication to Georgia’s medical students!
