Georgia Medicaid Begins Transition to Paperless Processes

To enhance providers’ experiences for enrollment, claims filing, appeals and reimbursement, Georgia Medicaid has launched a paperless initiative that will be rolled out over the next six to 10 months. The project will include transitioning to online-only for provider enrollment, claims filing, appeals, and disbursement of payments to providers.

The first component of the program was instituted on September 1, 2014, with the encouragement of online-only enrollment for institutional providers. The department has published a Fact Sheet with details about online-only enrollment.

Other dates for components included in the transition to online-only are:

  • November 1, 2014 — Online-only claims filing for certain groups (including dental, Medicare Advantage Plans EOBs, etc., who will be notified directly)
  • December 1, 2014 — Online-only claims filing for institutional and individual providers
  • January 1, 2015 — Online-only enrollment for individual providers

Providers are encouraged to enroll in Electronic Fund Transactions/Direct Deposit with their financial institution as soon as possible.

Georgia Medicaid will update providers throughout the transition process through articles in DCH-i, postings to the DCH website under Provider News, banner messages and other communications as this project progresses.
