  • Facilitate connections that promote collaboration, mentorship, and professional belonging.

    We do this through:

    • District - Review and organize districts to engage members in-person or virtually. Provide support through speakers, training, and practice enhancement tools, etc.

    • Communications - Establish venues that provide members with timely and accurate information.

    • Collaboratives - Form collaboratives with students, residents, family physicians, and allied professionals to address practice-level and statewide challenges.

    • Leadership Development- Create pathways for leadership through service, education, and legislation.

    • Public - Improve the public awareness of The Specialty of Family Medicine Physicians.

  • Advocate for the interests of family medicine.

    We do this through:

    • Shaping Policy - Serve as a trusted and reliable source of information for policymakers and family physicians.

    • Grassroots - Connect family physicians with their local legislators to keep them informed on key policy issues.

    • PAC - Champion family medicine interests by increasing member participation in the GAFP PAC.

    • Workforce Initiatives - Address Georgia’s workforce needs by attracting and retaining family physicians to ensure the continued delivery of quality care.

  • Lead impactful initiatives that serve the community, members, and the Academy.

    We do this through:

    • Communities - Deliver programs and services that benefit communities through Georgia Healthy Family Alliance (community grants, immediate needs, Escaping Vaping®, Women in Philanthropy) and Public Health initiatives.

    • Members - Develop and deliver relevant programs to benefit members through mentoring, scholarships, physician wellness, and disaster relief funds.

    • Academy - Identify and cultivate opportunities for GAFP leaders including board members, committees, and task forces to serve on external organizations, boards, and commissions.

  • Provide education that supports practice excellence and lifelong learning.

    We do this through:

    • Clinical Education - Deliver exceptional educational experiences that support family physicians across their careers.

    • Students and Residents - Inspire and engage early career learners with high-impact learning opportunities in family medicine.

    • Practice Success - Equip family physicians with the skills and connections to lead, advocate, and serve.

    • Multidisciplinary - Identify opportunities to provide education for allied professions (nurse practitioners, physician assistants, etc.)

  • Ensure the sustainability of the leadership and resources.

    We do this through:

    • Governance - Maintain efficient governing processes, reviewing Academy structure documents.

    • Finances - Diversify, maximize, and protect sustainable revenue sources.

    • Talent - Support, train, and make best use of the volunteer leadership and professional staff.

    • Growth - Maintain a strong position to drive growth in membership, PAC engagement, philanthropic initiatives, and other strategic opportunities.
